Latin letters PS mean that the tableware contains polystyrene. That is why such food-grade plastic should only be used for cold foods. The PP abbreviation indicates that polypropylene is included as a compound in the tableware. This type of plastic can be utilized for hot food products and beverages. It can withstand temperatures of more than 100 degrees Celsius. It is possible to drink hot tea or coffee from such glasses and to warm food in the microwave. Polypropylene is also denoted by a triangle of arrows with the number 5 inside it.
